Why you should use a SeaCAPS Continuous Algal Production System

Because our units pasteurise seawater continuously (with heat reclamation), large scale microfiltration and sterilisation are unnecessary. Cultures are easily set up and individual bags can be kept running for many months, being continuously harvested. This keeps them in the post-log phase of optimum fatty acid composition and also makes it easy to arrange an automatic distribution system. Nutrients and carbon dioxide are metered in continuously. A wide range of species can be grown to suit the nutritional requirements of the animals under culture.

All pipework is made to be steam sterilised. This is usually done weekly but the schedule can be flexible; missing once or twice has no serious consequences. In fact the system is so stable that it requires very little routine maintenance or attention. Typically, about 2 man-days per week are quite enough to run a 40-bag installation and take care of stock and starter cultures. You save enormous amounts of labour and can plan production with confidence.
